OVERVIEW: The GBU-28B/B Deep Throat is a short-range, GPS and laser guided gravity bomb designed for enhanced penetration against hardened and buried targets.
DETAILS: The Guided Bomb Unit-28 (GBU-28) bomb is designed to penetrate hardened targets before exploding, and is reported as being capable of penetrating 30 meters of earth or 6 meters of concrete. Warhead weight is approximately 304 kilograms. The weapon has a reported CEP of 9 meters.
NOTES: The GBU-28B/B is derived from the earlier GBU-28 A/B, encorporating enhanced guidance capabilities using a GPS system in addition to the laser guidance system. Two versions are available: the EGBU-28B/BLU-113 carried by the Strike eagle, employing the GPS enhanced laser guidance kit and GBU-37/GAM, using a GPS Aided Munition guidance kit, carried by the B-2A Spirit stealth bomber. Other users include Israel and South Korea.
